Our sweet girls are officially first and third graders. Sigh.
We attended open house the Friday prior, and much to our delight learned the girls were placed with exactly whom we were hoping. Then we ran around visiting new classrooms and saying hello to everyone we know and adore and hadn't seen in two whole months. Everybody grew!
We wrapped up summer by sleeping in for two more days, stayed in PJ's a little too long, took some after supper bike rides with the dogs, and had a lovely lunch out with a cinnamon roll for dessert.
And then it was time.
Little Sis asked that I get a picture of her 'new' shoes that fiiiiiinally fit. That girls feet grow slower. Than. Molasses. Of course, we were concerned that Little Sis would not be her feisty, outgoing self with her new surroundings, but look at that face. She showed no fear and no hesitation. Sis knew some friends already, and one little girl is even in her dance class! She also worked with her new teacher quite a bit last year, so it's just all around the best situation we could hope for. We are incredibly thankful!
And she looks adorable as a first grader. I could just eat that kid up!
Big Sis is, no surprise, glad to be back in school and eager for extra credit. She is excited to have a day planner in which to write her homework assignments (required for 3rd grade and up), has already completed math homework (Mom, there's an algebra problem in it. Algebra. I might need help.), and has a core group of good, sweet friends from last year's class sitting next to her.
It's going to be a great school year.
