1. ...thankful for my vocation. The girls were both sickos this week, so we had an extended pajama party with board games, puzzles, books, snuggling on the couch, a little PBS Kids and long naps. It was kind of wonderful to spend so much time 'doing nothing.' Until day five... then the natives got restless.
2. ...thankful for my husband's job. It enables me to fulfill my dream of being a stay home mom. It provides us with everything we need, and the things we want are attainable in time.
3. ...thankful my washing machine is not broken. Unlike the computer printer that pooped out on last Thursday... ugh. Just did not want to deal with that right now!
But when the time comes, I will be thankful to shop for a super hot energy/water efficient front loader!
4. ...thankful for family! We are looking forward to spending the holiday with all sorts of our favorite people. Also, my mother-in-law will be giving me a one-on-one lesson on how to make a turkey! In Thanksgivings past, I have always provided the sides and never cooked a bird, so I pretty much have no idea what I am doing. Can it be that much harder than a roast chicken breast?
5. ...thankful for Skype. Our girls have really enjoyed talking to their Papa and GrandMia recently. Well... more dancing for them, making silly faces at them, showing them pictures and fave books, etc. It is heartwarming to see our girls build such happy memories and a strong relationship with their grandparents.
6. ...thankful for hot apple cider and homemade apple pie.
7. ...very thankful for Hubby. He is a very hands-on father and partner. This is especially wonderful when, by the end of a particularly long day, I find myself wanting to hide out in the bathroom and eat ice cream for dinner.
8. ...thankful that Hubby is a good cook! We made a more kid-friendly fare for the girls during our usual Family Night In routine. But once the girls were in bed we sat down to some delicious chili courtesy of the Hubster. And what is good chili without a sleeve of Saltines?
9. ...thankful for our public library, and leaving with a tote bag full of picture/audio books. We always enjoy our family visits, increasingly more now that both girls understand the importance of using your inside voices. Or not chasing each other in circles around the reference desk.
10. And I am thankful for my girls. Even when they are balking like chickens in the library. And sometimes especially because they balk like chickens in the library.
