To update friends and family on our life lately:
1) Amelia turned 18 mos. old on November 30th! Hard to believe that girl is a year and a half old already. She did great at her recent well baby appt. Our little lady weighs 21lbs. 10oz., is in the 60th percentile for height and 15th percentile for weight. That means she's a little tall and lean, which is generally preferred by doctors. Plus, when she's not throwing food for her own amusement, she's eating like a horse! Most mornings she'll eat two bowls of Cheerios plus milk, half a banana, a small handful of plain nuts and/or raisins, plus a small cup of milk or watery apple juice. Now that's a mouthful! Still a bit of a vegetarian, though, so we'll be starting a multi-vitamin just as soon as I get to a grocery store to make sure she's getting enough iron. She's also recently expanded her vocabulary to include, "MINE, please, cheese, Amy, PaPa, Me-Maw" and "Hi, puppy!" In Amy-eze they sound more like: "II!, peez, teez, Mi-mi, BaPa, Me-Maw" and "Hi, pubby!" :) What a cutie!
2) Hannah just had her first 'official' dentist appointment with cleaning! We'd had her teeth looked at before, but she was too young for cleanings. So this morning she and I went in together for our check-ups. Hannah did great. She was a little nervous, but held my hand and opened her mouth big 'like an alligator' when asked. Everything looked great and healthy! As a prize for being such a great patient, she got to pick a little toy out of the treasure chest and got a new toothbrush, which both the girls fought over when we returned home. They really like to brush their teeth. No, seriously! And throughout this afternoon Hannah has kept telling me, "Mommy, my teeth feel so clean!" She's also doing great with our home schooling curriculum. Generally, it's learning through play. But she has a passion for learning, drawing and identifying shapes that's taken a slightly studious turn. On our drives, she is constantly pointing out signs and their shapes. "Look, Mommy! It's a octagon!" So we use our little white board to practice them, and she finds it fun.
3) We reenlisted! After much deliberation, we decided to have Eric reenlist in the US Army for another 2 years, putting our new ETS date at November 2011. Eric got to pick his (our) next duty station as part of the agreement, and from our available options we chose Fort Huachuca, AZ. It is roughly 4 hours south of Phoenix, 1 hour south of Tucson. We are really looking forward to this assignment for many reasons. Primarily, though, because it will put us closer to a large population of family, as well as closer to my graduate school of choice (University of AZ). It will also allow me to continue being a stay at home mom for the next 3 years, which is a big priority to us. We will move sometime this summer, probably July. Home is where the army moves you, right?!
Anyway, that's about all. I promise our next post will involve pictures of our adorable girls. Take care!
